Cinemalaya 2017 Film Festival Official Entry's Ang Guro Kong Di Marunong Magbasa theme song has been launched. Written and composed by Alvin Barcelona. "Ang Guro Kong di Marunong Magbasa” album is now out which include the original theme song of the movie “Darating Din".
The talented artists who are also part of the album are Joey Ayala’s “Mindanao,” Bayang Barrios “Mapayapang Mundo,” Paul Galang’s “Mapayapang Daigdig” and “Ilan Pa,” Lolita Carbon’s “Itanong Mo sa mga Bata” and Alvin Barcelona’s “Tell Me Pls. What’s Happening” and “Mahal ng Diyos ang Pilipinas.” The album launched was held last August 1, 3PM at the Film Development Council of the Philippines Cinematheque Manila Kalaw Manila. “Ang Guro Kong di Marunong Magbasa” is written and directed by Perry Escaño starring Alfred Vargas and will have screenings in CCP and Ayala Cinemas from August 5 to 13 and will be released nationwide on September 20. Music video of “Darating Din,” is now available in social media and youtube.
Ang Guro Kong Di Marunong Magbasa is set in a barrio in southwestern Mindanao. It tells about a young farmer who became the educator in their community even though he is illiterate. One day, he heads to the city and fails to return. His students then decide to join a rebel organization and learn to become skilled warriors.
Joining Alfred Vargas in the cast are Miggs Cuaderno, Marc Justine Alvarez, Micko Laurente, Lou Veloso, Mon Confiado, James Blanco, Loren Burgos, Kiko Matos, Marife Necesito, Ernie Garcia, Bon Andrew Lentejas, Paul Sy, Alvin Barcelona, Gabrielle Concepcion, Lianne Valentino, Richard Manabat and Joana Marie Tan.
