Movie Review: Patay Na Si Hesus

When Iyay, a single mother, learns that her estranged husband has died, she drags the entire family on a road trip from Cebu to Dumaguete to attend the funeral. With her children - Hubert, who has Down Syndrome; Jude, a lovesick transman; Jay, who is living the bum life - as her passengers, Iyay drives her tiny multicab on a journey that yields unexpected stopovers, detours, and revelations.

The ensemble cast have enough chemistry to drive a solidly assembled road trip comedy film. The crowd favorite of first ever Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino 2017. It's delightful to see Ms. Jaclyn Jose doing a comedy role that is reasonably funny and  jives smoothly to the rest of the cast.  Every cast is delightful to watch from Jaclyn Jose,Chai Fonacier, Melde Montañez, Vincent Viado, and Mailes Kanapi. The film doesn't wants to be funny but there are easy opportunities provided for the film to be funny. Overall it has enough charm and heart to act as a good comedy and most of all this is not a typical local comedy film.

My Verdict: 4/5
