DINOSAUR adventures return to the big screen as the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) approves “Jurassic World: Rebirth” for public exhibition with a PG (Parental Guidance) classification.
Perfect for family viewing, a PG rating is suitable for viewers aged 13 and below provided they are accompanied by a parent or supervising adult.
“Jurassic World: Rebirth,” a science fiction action-adventure-thriller, is the seventh instalment in the Jurassic Park franchise.
It tells about a team that travels to a forbidden island to search for a certain biomaterial from the three largest remaining prehistoric species from land, air and sea, which is a key to a revolutionary drug capable of saving countless human lives.
Meanwhile, the digitally restored classic Filipino film, “Sa Init ng Apoy,” (1980) starring Rudy Fernandez and Lorna Tolentino, has been rated R-13 (Restricted-13), making it suitable for viewers aged 13 and above.
The film tells the haunting story of Laura (Tolentino), who is possessed by an evil spirit during Good Friday—the day when God was supposed to have died—while on vacation with her husband Emil (Fernandez).
Also classified as R-13 is the Korean horror-thriller, “Noise,” which is based on a true story.
Another restored Filipino horror film, “Shake, Rattle & Roll 1” (1984), directed by Emmanuel H. Borlaza, Ishmael Bernal and Peque Gallaga, and digitally restored by ABS-CBN Sagip Pelikula, received an R-16 (Restricted-16) rating due to its mature themes, scenes and language.
The rating is strictly for viewers aged 16 and above.
MTRCB Chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto-Antonio reminded parents and supervising adults to practice responsible viewing, especially when watching films with children.
“While we encourage families to enjoy watching films together, it’s important to remain mindful of our age classifications. The MTRCB is committed to ensuring that viewers, especially children, are guided by age-appropriate content,” said Sotto-Antonio.
