MTRCB greenlights release of upcoming films, including ‘Elio’ and ‘Flower Girl’

THE Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has approved the public exhibition of four films premiering this week.

Among these is Disney and Pixar’s animated movie,“Elio,” which received a PG (Parental Guidance) rating, suitable for viewers age 13 and below provided they are accompanied by a parent or supervising adult.

The film follows the journey of Elio, an 11-year-old boy who accidentally becomes the intergalactic ambassador of planet Earth.

Meanwhile, due to mature themes, the locally produced,“Flower Girl,” starring Filipino actors Sue Ramirez, Martin Del Rosario and Jameson Blake was rated R-16, meaning it is suitable only for 16 years old and above.

It centers on Ena, a sanitary napkin endorser, who wakes up to find her precious womanhood missing after an unexpected encounter with a mysterious fairy.

Also earning an R-16 rating are the thriller films, “Dangerous Animals” and “28 Years Later.”

Both movies received age-appropriate ratings due to intense horror and frightening scenes that may be unsuitable for young viewers.

MTRCB Chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto-Antonio encourages Filipino families to enjoy these cinematic offerings while promoting responsible viewing.

“We encourage families to enjoy this week’s cinematic offerings, keeping in mind the value of age-appropriate and responsible viewing,” said Sotto-Antonio.
