Meet Anton Ignacio - Philippines World Champion in Jet Ski Racing

Jet Ski racing is a water sport similar to powerboat racing, in which riders use jet skis to compete. The sport is mostly practiced at a recreational level in several countries around the world. At a competitive level, Jet Ski racing is popular in the United States and Australia. Jet ski races are mostly conducted on large lakes. All athletes taking part in the races are required to wear helmets, full body suits and other protective gear. There are different classifications of jet skis based on engine capacity, and in competitions, separate races are conducted for each class.

Anton Ignacio, an 18-year-old prodigy from the Philippines, has achieved remarkable success in jet ski racing, propelled by the support of his parents—his father Bombet, an international racer, and mother Joyce—alongside his coach Bj Ang. Anton recently claimed the title of Philippine Jetski Racer World Champion at the 2024 IJSBA World Finals, a testament to his hard work and dedication to the sport. His journey illustrates the passion and commitment required to excel in competitive jet ski racing, a sport that requires protective gear and is categorized by engine classes, predominantly held on large lakes.

BJ Ang, the coach, invites aspiring young athletes interested in jet ski racing to join their upcoming clinic, where they will receive essential training and introduction to the sport. Additionally, they offer scholarships and more intensive training for those who demonstrate exceptional talent and potential in jet ski racing.

Anton encourages aspiring athletes to remain persistent and dedicated in their pursuit of dreams, emphasizing the importance of hard work. He highlights the value of surrounding oneself with supportive individuals who believe in your potential and inspire you to achieve success, both in sports and in life.
