From the vibrant lights of Tawag ng Tanghalan to an international stage, Mark Michael Garcia—now rebranded as MMG—has stepped into a destiny few artists ever imagine. And it all started with a “Resbak.”
At the recent Pocket Mediacon, the TNT Resbak Edition Grand Winner is now being recognized not just locally, but internationally—by no less than Allan Rich, the acclaimed songwriter behind Whitney Houston’s iconic ballads.
Allan Rich, together with co-composer Jud Friedman, discovered MMG through his viral performance of a Whitney Houston medley. Captivated by his vocal strength and soulful tone, the legendary duo reached out to him—and offered something extraordinary: the opportunity to record and perform the original, unreleased “alternate lyric” version of “Run To You.”
This version, unlike the romantic hit known from The Bodyguard, is raw, emotional, and steeped in heartbreak. And MMG’s voice, they say, was made for it.
Rich and Friedman are even encouraging MMG to audition for The Voice USA, promising support in making that dream happen.
During the mediacon, Allan Rich also revealed that he and Friedman have worked with other talented Filipino singers, including Sheryn Regis, and that the Philippines remains one of their favorite sources of musical excellence.
On August 2, 2025, at 8 PM, all roads lead to Samsung Hall, SM Aura for CODE NAME: MMG—the official breakout concert of the newly rebranded artist.
Produced by Heavenly Desserts by Chef Jeng, and co-presented by Essentials and District One, this concert is MMG’s bold declaration: he’s here, and he’s not slowing down.

Mark Michael “MMG” Garcia is not new to success. Born in Tawi-Tawi and raised in Bohol, he began singing at 16 and has graced stages from Davao to Hong Kong.
He rose to national fame in 2019 as the first-ever TNT Grand Resbak Champion, and his version of “Just Once” has since crossed 12 million views online, earning him the title “Philippines’ R&B Charmer.”
