Movie Review: Nightshift

Set in a hospital morgue, the movie revolves around a pathologist’s assistant named Jessie who’s working on a straight shift one stormy night. She doesn’t believe in the afterlife, but she is suddenly creeped out by the strange sounds that seem to be coming from the cadavers. She cannot shake off the feeling that they seem to be coming back to life. As her fear intensifies, Jessie begins to ponder on the idea of the Final Judgment. And if indeed the day has come that people rise from the dead, she is tormented about meeting her own end.

Shocking, Intriguing & Wondering. Nightshift is not the horror film for everybody. It’s interesting subject matter will keep you watching this contained cerebral medical horror film until the end. Kudos to the production design of the film for recreating a morgue that feels so natural and scary. The sound and musical score of the film adds the thrilling element for the film that help to set mood and convey the emotion of the scene. Yam Concepcion is good on this film and make you believe on her character. She is truly a new found gem as an actress. Michael De Mesa is also a good support nailing his character as a senior and informative morgue doctor. There is a lot of new things that you can learn on this film about the facts on the behavior of a dead body. So if you want to watch a local horror film that will make you ponder until the end credits roll, Nightshift is a good catch.

My Verdict: 3.5/5
