Movie Review: Block Z

Block Z revolves around pre-med students who encounter the death of a patient that exhibited symptons of rabies.

Soon, they face an even bigger problem as the patient comes back from the dead and infects the people on campus, causing a lackdown and trapping other students inside.

Will they be able to get out and survive? Will each of them run for his/her life or stay for the others?

Block Z is such a solid pinoy zombie film! It has all the elements of a thrilling film that will keep you interested and stay put at the edge of your seat. The film effectively use its subject matter to give us an entertaining cinematic journey that you should not miss in big screen. Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto still have the chemistry as a couple and delivers depth in their acting. The solid performance of JoshLia are worth watching which they effectively support each other to bring out the best on their character. Maris Racal and Mccoy De Leon on the other hand are effective second lead characters that are both engaging and delightful to see together on the big screen. Yves Flores is an effective villain. Dimples Romana and Ian Veneracion both delivers in leading the rest of the characters on this frightening thrill ride of endurance and gave us an action-packed roller coaster ride. Their characters also serve as the heart of the film that remind us of our human side in times of this catastrophe. Block Z is a fast-paced zombie flick that gave an outstanding Filipino flavor and take on a zombie apocalypse. The ending was both fresh and exciting. Block Z succeeds in giving us a one heck of a satisfying emotional thrill ride that we rarely experience inside the cinema. Absolutely worth watching!

My Verdict: 4.5/5
