Movie Review: Class of 2018

Sharlene is Ada, a loner who gets bullied. Nash is RJ, a “cool kid” who is a part of the popular rich boy posse. CJ is Migs, a geek obsessed with conspiracy theories. Kristel is Princess, a reformed mean girl who is doing her best to befriend the class, while Kiray is Venus, the school’s reigning queen bee who leads a popular clique.

“Class of 2018” is about Section Zamora, which is a class of underachievers, repeaters, and delinquents. When Section Zamora goes on an out-of-town field trip, a classmate contracts a mysterious virus, which prompts the military to quarantine them in an abandoned military facility. Ada, RJ, Princess, Migs, Venus, and the rest of Section Zamora fight for survival while dealing with the dangers of the infectious virus and politics among untrustworthy classmates.

Class of 2018 is a decently fun thrilling film that let you experience roller coaster of emotion. After watching, it  takes me a solid hour to process my interpretation for the film. The undertones of teenage drama and dark humor bring a pleasant delight to its sadistically gory theme. It is a terrifically thought-provoking, fast-paced, and full packed action, featuring a dynamite premise, and lot of surprises. Every character is to watch out for and have their shining moments, but those who standouts are Sharlene San Pedro and Nash Aguas that are sensitive to their performance, and Kristerl Fulgar and Kiray Celis that confidently carry the spunk in their character. Overall Class of 2018 is a good movie with a certainly interesting and unique concept and plot in Filipino film that will leave you on the edge of your seat.

My Verdict: 3.5/5
