My Bespren Emman: A Touching Story of Faith, Family, and Second Chances

TV5 continues to expand its primetime storytelling with My Bespren Emman, an upcoming family drama series directed by Derick Cabrido. Headlined by JM de Guzman, Shaina Magdayao, and Ai-Ai delas Alas, the series is set to premiere on April 27, 2026, as part of the network’s TodoMax Primetime Singko lineup.

At the center of the story is Ruth, played by Shaina Magdayao—a woman whose life is shaped by pain, yet defined by resilience. Born as the child of a criminal, Ruth grows up inside prison walls, becomes orphaned at a young age, and is eventually raised in an orphanage. Despite everything she has endured, she chooses to hold on to hope and faith.

Opposite her is Mateo, portrayed by JM de Guzman, whose journey intertwines with Ruth’s as they navigate life, love, and the challenges of building a family together. Their story deepens as they raise a child with a disability—Miriam, played by young actress Ryrie Sophia. Her portrayal stands out not just emotionally, but in its authenticity, as she prepared for the role by learning sign language and undergoing acting workshops.

The ensemble cast adds more weight to the narrative, including Sid Lucero, Mitch Valdez, Michael de Mesa, Kit Thompson, Elyson de Dios, Daytona, and TJ Valderrama. Ai-Ai delas Alas also appears in a special participation role as Rebecca, bringing both warmth and emotional depth to the series.

From the first three episodes shown during the advance screening, My Bespren Emman already leaves a strong impression. It’s refreshing to finally see a feel-good teleserye that centers on faith and God—something that feels rare in today’s landscape. What makes the show work is that it doesn’t come off as preachy. Instead, it presents flawed, relatable characters who are given the chance to change and choose the right path.

You’ll easily get attached to the characters early on—especially with Shaina’s grounded and heartfelt performance, and JM’s layered portrayal of Mateo. Their chemistry draws you in, while the colorful journey of their lives keeps you invested. Ryrie Sophia is also a standout, delivering a sincere and touching performance as a mute child that adds emotional weight to the story.

Kit Thompson’s return to teleseryes is another highlight, taking on a challenging villain role that adds tension to the narrative. Meanwhile, Ai-Ai delas Alas surprises with her dramatic range, proving once again her versatility as an actress.

Adding a touch of kilig, the series also explores the younger days of Ruth and Mateo, showing how their love story began as teenagers. These moments bring lightness and nostalgia, balancing the heavier themes of the show.

There’s clearly a lot more to look forward to in the coming episodes—twists, emotional turns, and character arcs that viewers will surely hold on to night after night.

My Bespren Emman premieres April 27, 2026, at 8:45 PM on TV5.

Following the advance screening, the cast—including Shaina Magdayao, JM de Guzman, and other special guests—graced a talkback session where they shared behind-the-scenes stories and insights about bringing the series to life.
