MTRCB releases movie ratings for Holy Week lineup

This Black Saturday, five family-friendly films will be released in theaters after being classified as PG (Parental Guidance) by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).

MTRCB Chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto-Antonio said that, “PG films allow children under the age of 13 to watch, but with the accompaniment and guidance of their parents or supervising adults.”

The following are rated PG:

- “The King of Kings,” an animated Christian film inspired by the children’s book “The Life of our Lord;”

- “Sneaks,” an animated sports comedy, which follows the adventures of Ty, a misguided designer sneaker who does not know life beyond the luxuries of his velvet-lined shoe box;

- “Colorful Stage! The Movie: A Miku Who Can’t Sing,” is an animated musical drama based on the mobile game “Hatsume Miku: Colorful Stage;”

- “Zerobaseone: The First Tour (Timeless World),” a concert film based on the first world tour of the Korean P-pop boy group “Zerobaseone;” and,

- “Fatherland,”  about a young man from America who travels to the Philippines to find his long-lost father, only to discover a past full of secrets, identity issues and danger—leading to a painful reunion in the middle of violence.

Meanwhile, the Filipino produced “Samahan ng mga Makasalanan,” starring “Pambansang Ginoo” David Licuaco and Sanya Lopez, received an R-13 (Restricted-13) rating, suitable for 13 years old and above.

The movie is about Reverend Sam (Licuaco’s character), a church deacon in Sto. Cristo, and his experiences in a special place called Kalye Makasalanan.

R-16 movies, recommended for 16 and older, include “Sinner,” an American historical supernatural action-horror starring Michael B. Jordan, and “Warfare,” a British-American war action film based on a true-to-life experience in Iraq.

The Board urges the public to continue supporting age-appropriate films this week, emphasizing that all MTRCB-classified materials are not only entertaining but also safe for viewers of different age groups.
