Written and Directed By Jason Paul Laxamana (who known for his film Babagwa, Magkakabaung and Mercury Is Mine), Instalado is a Filipino social science fiction film set in time when the dominant form of education is through installation, a process wherein bodies of knowledge can be installed directly into people's brains using technology owned by big corporations.
McCoy De Leon on his debut film plays as Victor, a young farmer in province who got offered to become Instalado. In this film he experienced to plant rice and plow a rice field with carabao. Being part of this film is an opportunity for him to showcase his acting skills and encourage audience to support farming industry.
Francis Magundayao plays as Instalado & young CEO that runs the marketing of installation center. The challenge on this film for him is to play a role younger than his age. For his character he learned that knowledge can make you rich and can take you to different places but can never really make you happy. On why people should see this film, he said that its a sci-fi genre that we rarely seen in local films, Filipinos can relate in this film and issues tackled here could happen 30 to 40 years in future.
Urian awardee Junjun Quintana plays as a successful recipient of installed knowledge & friend of Victor (McCoy De Leon). In this film he was given freedom by the director to explore his character. On why people should see this film, he said that this film explore the implication and impact of being an Instalado.
Instalado is an official entry to ToFarm Film Festival 2017.
‘Instalado’ is a social science fiction set in a farming village in the not-so-distant future. Victor lives in a time when the dominant form of education is through installation, a process wherein bodies of knowledge can be installed directly on people's brains using technology owned by big corporations.
However,
like many others in the agricultural town of Porac, Victor cannot
afford the sky-high cost of installation, which he believes is the key
to improve his family's life. To raise money for installation, Victor
abandons farming and works as the housekeep of a wealthy childhood
friend who has become extremely successful after undergoing a series of
installations.
