Movie Review: Juana C. The Movie

A young woman from a far off province is sent to study in a prestigious Manila university. But she gets caught up in the wrong crowd and ends up becoming a high class prostitute. Her surprising skill gives her access to the most powerful figures in the government, which exposes her to corruption at the highest levels.

This movie is socio political in which it tackles the current situation of our country. The movie tackles corruption, poverty, prostitution, and politics but it not in a direct way. It shows through the story itself of the movie the underlying situation of the society in the Philippines.

The good thing about this film is may gusto siyang iwan na aral sa atin at gustong paigtingin ang social awareness natin sa lipunan. Kahit na ganun ang tema ng pelikula ay nagawa nitong lagyan ng humor ang pelikula para hindi naman maging seryoso ang atake. It also not make this a social awareness film but entertaining as well.

So naloka din talaga ako sa mga exposure na ipinakita sa pelikulang ito especially with Mae Paner.  I would also like to commend the presence and acting of the respected actors and directors here in the film like Joel Torre, Madeline Nicolas, Soliman Cruz, Direk Soxie Topacio and Joel Lamangan. I like the humor of the fim na hindi pilit at funny talaga. I like the 3 love scenes here na ngayun lang ako nakakita ng love scene na nakakatawa. The screenplay and script was intellectually done. Talagang pinag isipan at may bagong atake na ipinakita. Same with the cinematography of the film , magaganda ang mga shots at makabagong approach ang atake.  I like how the film was done , napakatotoo , may mensahe, napapanahon at makabuluhan. So if you want to watch an entertaining social awareness film, this is commendable.

My Verdict: 4/5
