Kim Molina and Jerald Napoles are Reunited in Romantic Comedy Film - Seoulmeyt

A K-drama fanatic finally meets the “oppa” of her dreams. But what happens when he’s nothing like she expected?

 

Real-life sweethearts Kim Molina and Jerald Napoles are back on the big screen to charm audiences anew in ‘Seoulmeyt,’their latest romantic-comedy slated to premiere nationwide on May 29, 2024.

 

‘Seoulmeyt’ marks box-office director Darryl Yap’s 16th film and features the story of Luneta “Lunie” Paticul (Kim), a social worker and K-drama fan. Lunie hails from a village ravaged and strewn with debris by a typhoon. 

 

One day, a Korean conglomerate presents a golden opportunity to buy the land and build a new port there. The villagers are also promised better opportunities such as new jobs and improved housing. As the community’s leader, Lunie is in charge of negotiating with the Korean boss’s son, Park Ju Tae (played by Korean actor Ha Ju-young).

 

However, Ju Tae refuses to meet with the landowners so he assigns his overzealous assistant, Juanito “Jun” Mamaril (Jerald) to do the job. Jun is forced to pretend as Ju Tae’s brother, transforming himself as Park Jun Jun, a Korean businessman.

 

To win over Lunie, Jun takes her to Korea where they work through the deal. They also navigate the growing affection between them. Chaos and hilarity further ensue when Lunie meets the real boss.

 

Despite the shenanigans and cultural conflicts, will Jun and Lunie’s feelings successfully translate into a romance? What will Lunie do when she finds out Jun’s fake persona? Witness Kim and Jerald’s hilarious and perfect chemistry in an unforgettable adventure that is ‘Seoulmeyt.’

 

 

 

The romantic-comedy film serves as the third project of Kim and Jerald with director Darryl. The three previously worked together in the films ‘Jowable’ in 2019 and ‘Ang Babaeng Walang Pakiramdam’ in 2021.

 

For ‘Seoulmeyt,’ Viva Films and VinCentiments partnered with Film Line Productions from Korea, which has helped produce other Viva films like ‘Indak’ and ‘’Yung Libro Sa Napanood Ko.’

 

The film’s teaser video released in April featured Jerald’s ‘Oppafied Version’ of the song “Sa Iyo,” originally sung by pop superstar Sarah Geronimo.

 

‘Seoulmeyt’ promises a downpour of fun, warmth, and love in a story that perfectly captures the resilient and cheerful spirit of the Filipinos. It also stars Candy Pangilinan, Alma Moreno, and Isay Alvarez.
