Movie Review: Broken Hearts Trip

Broken Hearts Trip delves into the lives of five brokenhearted LGBTQ individuals who are given a chance to heal in some of the most beautiful places in the country.

These five LGBTQ individuals are portrayed by Teejay Marquez, Marvin Yap, Petite, Iyah Mina, and Andoy Ranay.

After enduring countless heartaches, frustrations, and seemingly endless grief, they ar finally offered the opportunity of a lifetime when a corporate agency sponsors a realit competition titled "The Broken Hearts Trip. The show takes them on a series of journeys to some of the most stunning tourist spots in the Philippines.

But there's a catch! To continue in the competition, the contestants must remain single at the end of their journey. A one-million-peso cash prize awaits the last gay man or trans woman standing - the chosen one.

In each destination, in each episode, one is spotlighted as they confront their past and navigate the road to recovery. While not every step and activity may go exactly as planned, each experience offers a valuable lesson. The journey continues, but will they make it to the next destination?

Will it be a pursuit of money or a quest for love? It's the perplexing question that each participant must answer as their experiences grow more enriching and exciting. In the final leg of the show, one winner will emerge with not only the prize but also a fresh lease on life.

Broken Hearts Trip is a roller coaster of emotion from feeling in love to laughing out loud. The film offers a different kind of sense of humor with its naturally funny cast from Petite, Christian Bables, Andoy Ranay up to Teejay Marquez and Iyah Minah.  It is different Christian Bables as gay for this film and his timing in comedy is really lit and effective. Another standout is Iyah Minah in which she is such a good comedy actress in this film, you will film the pain in her heartbreak then will give you a different punch in comedy. I love the parody of film on reality shows and on how they utilize it to give a different kind of storytelling. The film brings you to the  wonders of beautiful provinces in the Philippines and it is integrated properly to the flow of the film. The film is a homage to the LGBTQ community as it mirrors the colorful and dashing life of an LGBTQ when falling in love. So if you just want to have fun and relax inside the cinema, Broken Hearts Trip is a decent choice in this years' Metro Manila Film Festival.

My Verdict: 3.5/5
