“Tinatawag Ka Ng Isla”: Balaraw Is For Fans Who Love A Good Mystery-Thriller

Balaraw’s official trailer gave viewers plenty to unpack ahead of the series launch, including dreams that leave our protagonist Sabina (Janine Gutierrez) with more questions than answers, an island that seemingly refuses to give up its secrets, and a taste of uncertainty (and danger) waiting for anyone who dares to set foot in Balaraw.

Here’s a closer look at what makes Netflix’s upcoming Original series Balaraw a must-watch, as well as some first look photos!

THE PEOPLE OF BABANG YAWA

The official trailer gave us an extended look into what awaits viewers on the island of Balaraw, and most especially, the community that calls it home. A tribe shrouded in mystery, with an uncommon way of life built into the very fabric of their DNA. It is a place with cryptic elements waiting as you venture deeper into the island. But their existence begs its own set of questions: what kind of lives do they lead, what roles do they play in Sabina’s search for her mother, and what are they willing to do to keep their community afloat and their secrets from surfacing?

SABINA’S CONNECTION TO THE ISLAND

Sabina is haunted by a pull of something she can’t quite explain. It was the very force that once pulled her mother away from the island, making her the only person to ever successfully leave. Now on her own quest for answers, Sabina is left questioning her mother’s decision to presumably return to the island, untangling mystery after mystery as she gets closer to her mother. What truths will she and the others uncover when they finally get there? And what will those truths mean for Sabina and her connection to the island?

AN ISLAND SHROUDED IN MYSTERY

An island known to few and with its existence debated by many, Babang Yawa is seemingly cut off from the rest of the world—a place with its own community cloaked in mystery. Netflix’s Balaraw is for people who love a show that keeps you guessing and questioning what’s real. It will keep you glued to your screens as you join Sabina’s search for answers right up to the very end.

The island is calling.

Are you brave enough to answer?

Find out the secrets of Balaraw on October 29. Only on Netflix.
